CLEANING | POLISHING

Tooth Cleaning And Polishing

Oral hygiene is the practice of keeping the mouth clean, and is considered to be the best means of prevention of cavities, gingivitis, periodontitis, and other dental disorders. It also helps to prevent bad breath.

Healthy teeth have fewer cavities. They are clean and have minimal or no plaque deposits. Healthy gums are pink and firm. Dental X-rays help us assess the health of the teeth as part of routine professional examinations. We offer quick, convenient and all rounded preventive dental care to keep your pearlies shining as ever. We recommend visiting your dentist at least once in six months to prevent tooth decays, especially those turning into root canals or further complications.

Duration: 30 min | Pre-requisites: None | Sedation: None | Aftercare: Minimal

CAVITIES

Cavities are permanently damaged areas in the hard surface of your teeth that develop into tiny openings or holes. Cavities, also called tooth decay or caries, are caused by a combination of factors, including bacteria in your mouth, frequent snacking, sipping sugary drinks and not cleaning your teeth well. Regular flossing, six-monthly dental check up and practicing oral hygiene can minimize the occurrences of cavities. Unattended cavities may lead to root canal procedures or even tooth extraction.

Duration: 30 min to an hour, depending upon number of cavities | Pre-requisites: X-Ray | Sedation: None | Aftercare: Minimal

ROOT CANAL

Root Canal

Root canals (also known as endodontic treatments) are dental procedures that are designed to remove bacteria from an infected root canal. Deep inside your tooth, below the hard outer layer, is a soft tissue called “pulp.” Pulp contains nerves and blood vessels which nourish your tooth as you grow. When pulp becomes inflamed or infected, a root canal may be necessary to remove the pulp and any bacteria that are left behind.

If left untreated the inflamed or infected pulp can lead to a tooth abscess, which in turn may lead to bone loss or total loss of the tooth itself. Many patients first notice a problem when their teeth become sensitive to hot or cold, or daily activities such as chewing or brushing.

Duration: 30 min to an hour| Pre-requisites: X-Ray | Sedation: Local | Aftercare: Required

PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY

Good dental habits last a lifetime. While attending to your tiny tots, we ensure that your little ones pick up right brushing habits from Day 01. We guide your children on selecting the right tooth brush and cleaning their teeth properly. Dental education is part of the appointment. We talk with parents about baby bottle tooth decay, thumb sucking, and pacifiers.

With all sensitization, we hope that your kids do not show up with any tooth decay, but if they should, rest assured that they would be attended to with kid-gloves and a comfortable dentist experience, so that they do not develop fear of dentists, as they grow.

Duration: 30 min to an hour | Pre-requisites: Preparation for Child / X-Ray | Sedation: Local, if required | Aftercare: Minimal

EXTRACTION

Tooth Extraction

Although our teeth were meant to last a lifetime, there are a number of reasons why tooth extraction may be needed. A very common reason involves a tooth that is too badly damaged, from trauma or decay, to be repaired. Some of the other reasons for extracting a tooth could be a crowded mouth, need to pull out to a tooth for orthodontia. Infection.

If tooth decay or infection is so severe that it cannot be contained with root canal therapy extraction may be inevitable. Tooth extraction may also be required if your immune system is compromised (e.g. under chemotherapy etc.) and even a minor infection can be a threat for your well being.

Duration: 30 min per tooth | Pre-requisites: X-Ray | Sedation: Local | Aftercare: Required

CROWNS | BRIDGES

Crowns and bridges are fixed prosthetic devices that are cemented onto existing teeth or implants, and can only be removed by a dentist. A crown is used to entirely cover or “cap” a damaged tooth, to improve its appearance, shape or alignment, especially after a root canal treatment. A crown can also be placed on top of an implant to provide a tooth-like shape and structure for function. Crowns may be made out of gold and metal alloys, acrylic and ceramic. Most crown today are made of porcelain.

Bridges are commonly used to replace one or more missing teeth. Gaps left by missing teeth eventually cause the remaining teeth to rotate or shift into the empty spaces, resulting in a bad bite. The imbalance caused by missing teeth can also lead to gum disease and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders. Bridges are cemented to the natural teeth or implants surrounding the empty space. As with crowns, you have a choice of materials for bridges.

DENTURES

Dentures

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Two types of dentures are available — complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.

ORTHODONTICS

Orthodontics addresses the diagnosis, prevention, and correction of mal-positioned teeth or jaws, and misaligned bite patterns. It may also address the modification of facial growth, known as dentofacial orthopedics.

Abnormal alignment of the teeth and jaws is very common. Treatment may require several months to a few years, and entails using dental braces and other appliances to gradually adjust tooth position and jaw alignment. In cases where the malocclusion is severe, jaw surgery may be incorporated in the treatment plan.

Duration: 1-2 years | Pre-requisites: As discussed with Doctor | Sedation: None | Aftercare: Minimal

PERIODONTAL TREATMENT

Periodontal Treatment

Periodontitis means inflammation around the tooth.” Microorganisms, such as bacteria, stick to the surface of the tooth and in the pockets surrounding the tooth, and they multiply. As the immune system reacts and toxins are released, inflammation occurs. Untreated periodontitis will eventually result in tooth loss. Periodontitis ispreventable through good dental hygiene.

Duration: 1 hour | Pre-requisites: None | Sedation: As discussed with Doctor | Aftercare: Required

IMPLANTS

Dental implants are replacement tooth roots. Implants provide a strong foundation for fixed (permanent) or removable replacement teeth that are made to match your natural teeth. A dental implant is an artificial root made of titanium metal. It is inserted into the jawbone to replace the root of the natural tooth. An artificial replacement tooth is attached to the implant. The implant acts as an anchor to hold the replacement tooth in place.

If you are in good general health, have healthy gums and have enough bone in the jaw to hold an implant, dental implants might be right for you. If your jawbone has shrunk or if it has not developed normally, you may be able to have a bone graft to build up the bone

Creating an ideal smile may require orthodontics, orthognathic surgery, periodontal surgery, cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery, and plastic surgery. Involving the dental technician that will be doing the final restorations, should be consulted early in the process as they can bring an invaluable component to helping the clinician and patient achieve the desired final result.
